I Must face This Battle Alone
I must face this one battle alone,
Yes, I know Christ for my sins died to atone,
And to the Father bring me near to be his own,
But just now I do not feel it deep within,
As with doubts mighty warrior I do battle again,
His fiery darts like blazing thoughts burn in my mind,
Lies they are about the past I can’t seem to leave behind,
Forgive I’ve tried and forget I can’t seem to do,
Because my enemy does not want me to.
Not that he is greater than God and Christ alone,
For he is not, he’s but a defeated foe the truth be known,
But though defeated for a time, great power he yields still,
When I hopelessly surrender to him my mind, body and will.
Oh God my Lord, King, Savior and friend,
When will this season of torment finally end?
You need not tell me Lord for the answer I know it’s true
It all will end when I’m finally home safe and secure with you.
